''Ritos Funerarios en Vasconia ''(Funeral Rites in the Basque Country) is an ethnographic research project that was conducted by the Etniker Groups in Euskalerria, and forms part of the Basque Country Ethnographical Atlas, of which Mr. Jose Miguel de Barandiaran is the designer. This Section belongs to Volume X in the Atlas as a whole, and is the third one to be issued. Previous Sections dealing with ''Household Foodstuffs in the Basque Country ''and ''Children's Games in the Basque Country ''appeared in 1990 and in 1993 respectively.

La investigación se ha llevado a cabo en el territorio de VasconiaThe research has been carried out within the territory which nowadays forms the Basque Country, situado en el occidente de Europalying in an area that stretches from the River Adour in the North, ocupando un área que se extiende entre los ríos Adour al norte y down to the River Ebro al surin the South. Está integrado por dos administraciones políticas englobadas en el Estado Español It is governed by two political authorities within the Spanish State (Comunidad Autónoma del País Vasco y Comunidad Foral de NavarraThe Basque Autonomous Community and The Community of Navarre) y una parte del Departamento Francés de Pyrénées Atlantiques, and also includes part of the French Department of the Atlantic Pyrenees. El conjunto suma una superficie de Altogether, it covers an area of 20,531 sq. kms.531 Km^{, and its population amounts to 2} y cuenta con una población de 2.,937.,151 habitantes inhabitants (año in 1990).

El trabajo de campo se ha realizado en 85 localidades distribuidas por Alava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, Navarra, Basse-Navarre, Labourd y Soule. La selección de las poblaciones encuestadas se ha hecho atendiendo la diversidad regional del territorio objeto de estudio así como a la de las zonas (rural, urbana ''y ''costera) donde se ha efectuado. El cuestionario etnográfico utilizado figura en la ''Guía para una encuesta etnográfica ''(Cap. II. Usos del Grupo Doméstico) de D. José Miguel de Barandiarán ''y ''específicamente en las preguntas que hacen referencia al rito de pasaje de la muerte (cuestiones 11.238 a 11.272).
