This theme is highly complex as it reflects local practicalities: there were rituals found throughout Zuberoa, and other very motley ones turned Baja Navarra into a patchwork of particularities. However, the neighbours were the backdrop everywhere to the pomp of the funeral cortege, where the Church clearly had a place, but only its own. This beautiful staging of the drama and pain experienced jointly as a community evoked the pomp of the 17<sup>th</sup> and 18<sup>th</sup> centuries.
A la salida de la casa, por lo menos en Baja Navarra, el carpintero organiza el cortejo. En la entrada del templo, la ''andere serora'', lo recibe. El primero representa a una comunidad que celebra la muerte de uno de los suyos y la segunda a esta misma comunidad quien lo acoge en un lugar donde, mediante la liturgia, la Iglesia dará su verdadero sentido a la muerte y por tanto a la vida.
