Parece ser que la costumbre más antigua requería que sólo el primer vecinoIt seems that the oldest custom only required the first neighbour, junto con los demás vecinos portadores del ataúd along with the other coffin bearers (los mismos que generalmente habían abierto la fosawho usually would have dug the grave) acompañara al sacerdote y realizase el entierro, to accompany the priest and be present at the burial. Luego de cerrar la fosaOnce the grave was closed, el primer vecino iba a buscar a la familia y al cortejo para llevarlos sobre la tumbathe first neighbour would go and find the family and the cortege to take them to the graveside. Se producía un último momento de oración y la gente se dispersabaA final prayer would be said and the people would leave.
