Este tomo complementa otro anterior dedicado a la ganadería y el pastoreo, dada la intrincada relación que mantuvieron todas estas actividades en la casa rural de antaño, antes de que comenzase a producirse la paulatina especialización acaecida en la segunda mitad del pasado siglo XX que ha derivado en que una parte del territorio estudiado, la vertiente mediterránea, se haya decantado por una actividad más netamente agrícola, mientras que en la otra, la atlántica, ha terminado por prevalecer la ganadería.
