Esta investigación está centrada en la agricultura tradicional y las transformaciones que ha sufrido a partir de los últimos decenios del siglo XX que han desembocado en una profunda mecanización de la misma.

This volume focuses on traditional agriculture and the great changes that took place in the rural environment over the last decades of the 20th century leading to the current state of agricultural mechanisation.
  
Se abordan los distintos paisajes agrarios y las clases de terrenos cultivados. Los cultivos en sus distintos aspectos: el calendario agrícola, la forma de preparar la tierra, la siembra y los cuidados que precisan tanto los cultivos para consumo humano como animal, así como su recolección y almacenamiento. También la cultura desarrollada respecto a la hierba y los otros forrajes sobre todo en la vertiente atlántica donde la ganadería ha desempeñado un lugar preeminente. También se abordan los antiguos cultivos de lino y cáñamo.

The first two sections cover the following research areas: agricultural landscape and farmed lands; crop distribution and rotation, and farming year; preparing the land for cultivation, including ploughing, sowing and caring for crops, both for human and livestock consumption; crop harvesting and preservation; cultural practices and customs for growing different varieties of grass and other forage, especially on the Atlantic side of the country, where livestock farming and shepherding have played a prominent role; and also early flax and hemp cultivation.
  
Otro bloque lo conforman los árboles frutales y en especial el cultivo del olivo y la vid, tan importantes en la vertiente mediterránea, y la producción de aceite y de vino.

An entire section is devoted to commonly cultivated species of fruit trees, olives and grapevines in particular, widely grown on the Mediterranean watershed and of such importance for the production of oil and wine.
  
También las herramientas y los aperos para trabajar la tierra, las unidades de medida, la fuerza de trabajo que incluye la mano de obra humana y animal empleadas, el carro y otros sistemas de transporte. Se aborda además la creciente mecanización.

Farming equipment and implements for working the land, measurement units, workforce and animal power used on the farm, the cart and other means of transport, along with the mechanisation of agriculture are likewise dealt with at length.

This volume focuses on traditional agriculture and the great changes that took place in the rural environment over the last decades of the 20th century leading to the current state of agricultural mechanisation.

The first two sections cover the following research areas: agricultural landscape and farmed lands; crop distribution and rotation, and farming year; preparing the land for cultivation, including ploughing, sowing and caring for crops, both for human and livestock consumption; crop harvesting and preservation; cultural practices and customs for growing different varieties of grass and other forage, especially on the Atlantic side of the country, where livestock farming and shepherding have played a prominent role; and also early flax and hemp cultivation.

An entire section is devoted to commonly cultivated species of fruit trees, olives and grapevines in particular, widely grown on the Mediterranean watershed and of such importance for the production of oil and wine.

Farming equipment and implements for working the land, measurement units, workforce and animal power used on the farm, the cart and other means of transport, along with the mechanisation of agriculture are likewise dealt with at length.
